Beacher Wiggins, Library of Congress

Beacher Wiggins has been the Director for Acquisitions & Bibliographic Access at the Library of Congress since June 2004. He has spent his entire library career at the Library of Congress, starting in 1972 as a cataloger. He is an active member of the ALA and IFLA, and received the ALA’s Melvil Dewey Medal for distinguished contributions to library technical services in 2013.

Jeff Penka, Zepheira

Jeff Penka is the VP of Product at Zepheira, a company founded in 2007 to help organizations better understand and use Web Technologies and Standards to unlock the value in their often hidden and disconnected data. Through much of Jeff's career, he has worked with libraries, consortia, and cooperatives to help them serve existing and new communities at the point of need.

This March 16, multi-state event will take place at both Indiana Wesleyan University, Indianapolis North Campus and Lansing Community College, West Campus. Speakers and participants will interact in-person and remotely. The morning will feature an overview and update in Lansing on the Library of Congress BIBFRAME pilot project presented by Beacher Wiggins (Director for Acquisitions and Bibliographic Access, Library of Congress) and a presentation from Indianapolis delivered by Linked Data industry leader Zepheira new-window-icon.png on the implications for libraries.

This summit is an opportunity for librarians to explore the possibilities of what a fully integrated Linked Data world means for libraries and our communities. This event will also provide updates and presentations exploring what is already happening to make that possibility a reality.
