Debbi Schaubman Named Manager of Shared Library Systems

MCLS is pleased to announce that Debbi Schaubman has accepted the job as Manager of Shared Library Systems.  This position will encompass the Michigan Evergreen shared open-source integrated library system (ILS), PALNI’s shared Aleph ILS, and related activities. She will begin her new duties on November 1, 2010.

Debbi brings experience in library management and in automated systems to this position. Since 2004, Debbi has been the primary technical resource for MeLCat, and she is fiercely proud of the Michigan library staff who have worked so hard to make MeLCat the booming success that it is today. She has worked with Innovative Interfaces’ INN-Reach software for more than seven years, and prior to coming to MLC in 2004, Debbi coordinated MeLCat’s precursor, the InMICH project, at Michigan State University (MSU).  She also served as head of government documents at MSU and as the System Manager at the Social Science Research Center at Rutgers University.

Outside of libraries, Debbi is an avid kayaker who doesn’t get on the water often enough. Her eclectic interests run the gamut from Puppeteers of America to gardening to running sound for a number of bands over the years.  And for inquiring minds who want to know, her favorite book is The Golden Compass.

Please join MCLS in congratulating Debbi on her new assignment.  Welcome, Debbi!
