Facilitation training for Michigan library staff

Due to the success of last year’s workshops and back by popular demand, MCLS will be offering, in partnership with the Library of Michigan, six more trainings on facilitation presented by We Can Work It Out, LLC.

Because they are funded by the Library of Michigan, these trainings are open to staff of Michigan libraries. While open to all staff, they will be particularly helpful for those who have gone through The Harwood Institute Public Innovators Labs. The workshops will help you increase skills and knowledge necessary to ensure successful community engagement projects in your local communities. The days will include learning theory, as well as practice of skills and peer feedback.

Two dates will be offered for the Basic Facilitation workshop, on July 8 and 9, 2019 (locations to be announced.) These will be repeats of the courses offered last year, and are available to new participants.

Two Advanced Facilitation workshops, on the topics of, “Dealing with Conflict” and “Coming to Agreement,” will be offered in Fall 2019. These workshops are intended for those who have already gone through the basic workshop, or have done a considerable amount of facilitation work. These will not cover basic skills.

Registration for all six workshops will be announced soon. In the meantime, save the date and plan on joining us this summer or fall!
