Last chance to register for March 6 media coaching program

Time is running out to register for this unique opportunity to learn how to establish relationships with your local media from the best in the business. The deadline to register is Tuesday, March 3.

Library staff of all types need the skills to deliver a clear, consistent message to educate their constituents on the value of libraries, and, in moments of crisis, to effectively present themselves as community leaders.

On March 6, the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services will be hosting a program on Media Coaching for Librarians. This program will take place from 10:00 am-3:15 pm at the Westfield Washington Public Library in Westfield, Indiana.

You will receive coaching from communications expert Rick Hightower, on how to communicate effectively with media in all types of situations as well as establishing relationships with local media.

A panel of reporters and journalists, including David MacAnally, WTHR TV13, Rafael Sanchez, WRTV Channel 6, J.K. Wall of the Indianapolis Business Journal, and Bobby King from the Indianapolis Star will participate in a panel discussion about what reporters really want.

This interactive workshop will also include opportunities for librarians to participate in mock media interviews, filmed by photojournalist and reporter Matt Trees from WRTV 6 News.

The cost to attend this full day program is $75 for MCLS members and $150 for non-members. This price includes lunch.

Time is running out for this rare opportunity to learn these skills from experts in the field. For more information, and to register, go to the media coaching event page
